How to Link Your NIN to Your Prepaid Meter (Step-by-step Guide with Proof)

To update customers' information, power distribution companies, DISCOs are carrying out know your customer exercise by asking customers to link their prepared meters to their National Identification Number (NIN).  The Ikeja Electric is the first DISCO to commence the exercise including upgrading of its customers meters.

From November 1, all Ikeja Electric prepared meter customers were mandated to link  their meters with their NIN. Failure to do so, the customers will not be able to recharge their meters. This process is only applicable to existing customers. New customers will have to provide their NIN at the point of application for prepared meter.

A lot of people are finding it difficult to carry out the exercise on their own with many going to cyber café or “NEPA” offices where they are being charged a fee.
